What is Seattle Skills Center?

Advanced, hands-on Career and Technical Education classes for SPS high school students in:

  • Automotive technology
  • Video game design
  • Education careers
  • Advanced manufacturing
  • Medical assisting/careers
  • Nursing assisting/careers
  • Media arts
  • Maritime careers
  • Construction trades
  • Firefighting and emergency services

Gain technical skills and confidence to prepare for pathways to college, career, and life!

How does it work?

  • 1/2 day at home high school and 1/2 day at Skills Center course every day for each academic year.
  • Classes are three periods long, generally spanning from periods 1-3 for AM classes, periods 4-6 for PM classes.
  • Acquire dual college credit, fulfill multiple high school credit requirements, and earn important industry certifications.
  • Earn up to 3 Career and Technical Education (CTE) and sometimes other credits upon successful completion.

How Do I Apply?

  1. Complete the online application
  2. Receive confirmation and approval from your home high school counselor.

Class Information

*Classes are offered during morning sessions, afternoon sessions, or both. Some classes offer curriculum for one year, and others can be taken for two years.

Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri:

  • AM Session – 8:50-11:20 a.m.
  • PM Session – 12:45-3:15 p.m.

Wednesday:

  • AM Session – 8:50-10:05 a.m.
  • PM Session -12:45-2 p.m.

Student Cellphone Use Expectations

Phones will be “No Cell Bell to Bell”. Phones will be kept away during class, with limited access during lunch and passing periods.
